Nikon is buying German 3D printer maker SLM Solutions Group. The Japanese company Nikon said that this contract will be completed for 622 million euros or 620 million dollars. News Nikkei Asia. Nikon will reportedly spend 4.5 million euros for a stake of around 10 percent of its target, and the Japan-based company will later launch a tender offer to buy shares and convertible bonds. This will initially increase the capital. Through the deal, Nikon wants to take over a large share of 3D printer production. SLM now controls about 10 percent of the metal 3D printer market. According to Nikon, it ranks third behind Germany's EOS Group and General Electric. Toshikazu Umate, president of Nikon, said, "Our goal is to become the world leader in the production of metal parts through digital manufacturing and carbon neutrality in a growing market. Founded in 1996, SLM is headquartered in Lübeck, Germany. The number of employees of the company is more than five hundred.
